These are some of the words used to describe the Arabian Horse.  There is nothing as awe-inspiring as watching an Arabian gallop across an open field - tail and head high, mane flowing, nostrils flaring.  Suddenly you realize he is running to you - his human.  As he approaches, you marvel at his large expressive eyes and rippling muscles.  He comes to you, and you laugh as he nuzzles you and feel his warm breath on your cheek.  The he is off once more, to run free.  But you know he loves you. Long before the Mohammed’s time, dwellers of the savage desert depended on the swiftness and alertness of their Arabian horses, and revered them as a gift from Allah.  Today, the purebred Arabian horse is a product of centuries of use and development from that original breed which first roamed the earth, and is the only breed whose features today are the same as those of their ancestors.    The Bedouins of the desert selected for their breeding stock only those Arabian horses that were the most active and responsive under saddle, and those that could endure long marches to take part in warfare --- where speed and handiness made the difference between winning and losing.   Life in the desert caused the Arabian horse to develop a trim, muscular body with a sleek coat, black skin to resist sunburn, slender sturdy legs free of long hair, hard bones, small sound feet for fleetness, large hearts for endurance, great resistance to disease, alertness, high spirits, courage, and intelligence.  In this primitive existence with the nomads, the Arabian horse horse shared the Bedouin’s tent and developed a closeness to man.  This same quality of gentile diposition endures in Arabian horses being bred today. The Arabian horse has been a prized gift between kings, presidents, and statesmen throughout the world, stirring the imaginations of authors and artists by its legendary beauty.  Hallmarked by an air of nobility with a distinctive dished face, large luminous eyes set well apart, a small muzzle that at birth is said to fit in a teacup, and fountain-like tail carriage; the Arabian horse performs with athletic versatility to be used as a trail, driving, show, pleasure, parade, and stock horse.  The Arabian horse has won all major endurance races and holds world records for long distance rides. For beauty and performance, companionship and challenge - yesterday and now - the versatile Arabian horse is your horse to own for all reasons!!  Membership form By-Laws Points Awards Booklet Nomination Form Local CT Points submission form Regional Points submission form
