A Conformation Clinic With Larry Bailey
Set aside Saturday December 1st for a special 4 hour clinic.
This Clinic is designed for all people interested in horses. After this clinic you will be better able to make decisions for yourself and your horse!
Larry Bailey has had a life of experiences with horses. His expertise with horses spans not only the decades, but also the breeds. Over the last 40 years, Larry has worked with Andalusians, Morgans, Welsh Ponies, POA’s, Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses and Arabians. It is with the Arabians that he spent the most of his career and when asked why, it was simple…….once your taught them something, it stuck!
He has also trained top level riders in hunt seat, saddle seat, stock seat, western pleasure, hunter pleasure, saddle seat pleasure, reining, and hunters over fences. Larry has designed Equine curriculums for colleges and taught and lectured around the country. What brought Larry to New England was Roger Williams Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where, in 2006, he was able to get treatment for his cancer. He is now on the road to recovery and we are fortunate to have him share his expertise with us.

AHA has adopted and will begin to use in 2008, a new scoring system for Arabian Halter Horses. It is based on and taken from the 1000 point European Scoring Systemthat Larry will be teaching us about!
Conformation and the European Scoring System
Good confirmation is good confirmation no matter what breed of horse you prefer. It becomes necessary for us to be able to see what is there, so we can make good decisions about job description, exercise, etc, for our horse. One of the easiest ways to do this is to have an organized system to go thru the many parts of the horse. The European Scoring System makes this process easier for everyone.
A total horse is worth 1000 points. By assigning a numerical value to each part and then totaling it up, you arrive at a much more thorough and objective assessment of a horse’s confirmation. The great thing about this system is that it is “breed blind”. It doesn’t matter what breed of horse you evaluate, it works because it is based on only one thing…the good conformation and mechanics that make a “good” horse.
